Washing Instructions for Polar Babies

Because hemp fibers contain natural oils that will initially impede absorption, you'll need to pre-wash this diaper several times. You'll find that although this diaper looks big, it will shrink up to 25% with these washings, getting more absorbent and acquiring a fluffy quilted look. Machine wash warm (hot for those first few washes), then tumble dry. Do not use bleach; if you want to treat stains, one of the most effective and least expensive methods is to machine wash normally and then hang dry in direct sunshine, stains toward the light. Sunlight is a wonderful stain fighter! Also, use less detergent than recommended by the detergent manufacturer, perhaps ½-2/3 as much. Not only will this reduce detergent build-up in your diapers that can react with your baby's urine, it will reduce wear and tear on your washing machine. Happy Diapering!
